El Museo se va contigo
Guía infantil del Museo Nacional de Arte, 2009
The award winning (Best Children’s Book of the Year, 2010) children's guide to the museum was conceived relying on the pedagogical methodology of Reggio Emilia. Reggio Emilia was an Italian educational experience developed in Italy in 1945 after World War II.
The core of Reggio Emilia’s philosophy is:
- The children as the protagonist
- The guide as a listener and a research companion
- The documentation of the experience to raise visibility of a process of children and adult being co-builders of knowledge and culture.
We developed a year long program of recording groups of children 8 to 12 years old in the galleries where they picked their favorite work and talked about it in the group. The intervention from the guide was only complementing what the children were asking.
The results were stunning.
Most of the times, the children picked the masterpieces.
The stories they told around the works, either reflected their own inner experiences triggered by the art, or their perception of the artists emotional state.
The book was made with the works they picked, all of them highlights of the collection.
The text was only made with the information they were curious to know.
The editorial design aimed to fit the character of the book and the museum's image.
